Porcelain Crowns offer Durability and AestheticsHand with gloves holding partial dental crowns

A dental crown is a full coverage restoration that preserves brittle, fractured teeth that are unable to withstand normal use any longer. They cover the entire tooth surface above the gumline and are usually made of porcelain materials that match your other teeth.

Crowns are Useful for Teeth That Have:

  • Been treated with a root canal
  • Experienced trauma like a fracture or crack
  • Aesthetic concerns
  • Large cavities fillings that need to be replaced

Your Crown Process

The crown treatment process typically takes two appointments. At the first visit we will remove any damaged portions of the tooth, shape it for optimal crown support and then take an impression of the tooth. A temporary crown is placed over the tooth to prevent any sensitivity while the permanent crown is being made. About two weeks later you will return for a short visit where the permanent crown is bonded into place.

Monrovia Family Dentistry works with many different insurance companies, making it easier for you to afford your dental crown treatment. Financing options are also available. Call us for more information!
